Reference and Information Services Division (RISD)


The Reference and Information Services Division (RISD) is charged with the responsibility of assisting customers in their search for information in various subjects areas of the library and even outside the library using both the manual catalog and using the OPAC.


 

The Division is saddled with addressing customers’ ever-changing remote and physical information inquiries using myriad techniques, skills and knowledge, in addition to establishing perpetual relationship between customers and the conventional and non-conventional information resources in the library and beyond through instructional and informational processes for their maximum exploitation in teaching, learning and research.


ESTABLISHMENT OF QUALITY ASSURANCE UNIT

The need for the establishment of the Unit was necessitated by the Management to provide quality systems and services for the University Community.

The Unit is responsible for among others:

  • Mounting and Evaluation of Library Operations, Systems and Services.
  • Management of data on Library Operations Systems and Services.
  • Identifying gaps on Library and Information Services.
  • Advice on the provision, promotion and implementation of quality Library and Information Systems, Operations, and Services.
  • Development of Strategies / Mechanisms to ensure quality in library and Information Operations and Services.
